
Biography: Scott Grove is a seasoned, self-taught woodworker known for layers of artistic expression and unconventional techniques. He has pioneered a number of alternative veneering techniques including asymmetrical matching and extreme compound curves, among others.
An award-winning innovator, Scott has received four Veneer Tech Craftsman Challenge Awards, an unprecedented achievement. He has won a NICHE Award for his trompe l’oeil wood carving; a DuPont Prize for innovative use of materials; an NEA grant for sculpture; and an American Institute of Architects Napkin Sketch award.
As an author, Scott has written for a variety of publications including Fine Woodworking, Fine Home Building, Woodshop News, CWB, and Freshwood2. His work has been featured in The Los Angeles Times, Celebrity Living, and The Robb Report, among others, and was on Home and Garden’s HGTV Network. He has also authored two books: Advanced Veneering and Alternative Techniques and Hardwood Edging and Inlays for Curved Tables for Schiffer Publishing.
Scott exhibits and judges at prominent woodworking shows; he teaches across the USA, in the UK and Brazil, and is available for private lessons. He maintains a studio in New York’s Finger Lakes region, creating art furniture and sculpture.
